Shanaya Kapoor Says She Signed Tu Yaa Main After Reading Just Two Scenes

Shanaya Kapoor recently attended the trailer launch of her upcoming movie, Tu Yaa Main. Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, the survival creature film also stars Adarsh Gourav.

At the trailer launch, Shanaya revealed

she agreed to do the movie even before they prepared the final script. The 26-year-old actress said she decided to audition for the film based on just “two scenes” she read.

Mukesh Chhabra Initially Approached Shanaya Kapoor

Casting director Mukesh Chhabra of Gangs of Wasseypur and Dil Bechara fame thought Shanaya Kapoor would be a great fit for the female lead. He sent Kapoor two scenes from Tu Yaa Main. “I read the scenes, and I was like, I have to come and audition for this,” Shanaya Kapoor recalled.

Chhabra requested Kapoor to record the scenes. He told her he would send the end product to the film’s producer, Anand L Rai. This greatly motivated Kapoor. “I thought to myself: You have to kill it now. I have to give my best,” Shanaya recalled.

Tu Yaa Main Producer Anand L Rai Encouraged Shanaya

Anand L Rai was more than pleased with the scenes Shanaya Kapoor recorded on Mukesh Chhabra’s request. “After I met Anand sir, he had this belief in me, and he saw this potential in me, which I’m forever grateful for,” Shanaya said.

She said Anand L Rai greatly encouraged her to do the movie. “He stood by me through everything, so I’m here because of that,” the actress added.

Shanaya Kapoor On The Script For Tu Yaa Main

Kapoor had given the movie a thumbs-up way before it had a script. She was blown away after she read the final script for Tu Yaa Main. “When I read the script, I thought this film has everything – there is love, there is horror, there is thriller, there is dance, there is comedy,” Kapoor said excitedly.

She felt the movie was complete, and described it as “a mix genre of love, thriller, and horror”. “That’s crazy! We’ve seen the horror comedies, we’ve seen the romcoms. I don’t think anyone’s seen a romance in a survival thriller. So there was no way I was not going to do this,” Kapoor exclaimed.
