A month after its original release, Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 was supposed to be re-released in theatres on January 9. The movie, released in December, couldn’t maintain its grip and was washed out of theatres due to the Dhurandhar wave, but the makers and Kapil Sharma decided to bring the movie back for the audience. However, since the film was not re-released on January 9, there are reports that it has been cancelled.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Star Studio18, the studio partner and distributor of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, had assured of releasing the film in 500 screens in its second run. But they were able to secure only around 200-250 screens. Also, most of the shows were at odd times. Venus, the producers of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, were not
satisfied with such a release. As a result, a decision was taken on the evening of Thursday, January 8, to not re-release the film at all.”
The source also mentioned, “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 originally released on December 12 and was withdrawn from cinemas as films like Dhurandhar, Avatar: Fire And Ash, etc. dominated the showcasing. Venus felt that their film was not getting sufficient showcasing and decided to re-release it at a better time. But even when the holdover releases have slowed down, they are not getting the screens that they demanded. This is the reason that such a drastic step was taken.”
Previously, Kapil Sharma’s team issued an official statement and claimed that the film did not perform well because of its limited theatrical run: “Audiences were in for a nostalgic ride as Kapil Sharma brought back his much-loved entertainer Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, with a much-awaited sequel. The film opened to positive responses from audiences and critics alike, however, its theatrical run was impacted by limited screen availability due to ongoing multiplex takeovers by other releases.”
Directed by Anukalp Goswami, the sequel features Manjot Singh, Hira Warina, Tridha Choudhary, Parul Gulati, and Ayesha Khan. It is produced by Abbas-Mustan, Ganesh Jain, and Ratan Jain. With the re-release, the team hoped to capitalise on audience interest while navigating a competitive January calendar that includes films like Ikkis, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, The RajaSaab, Jana Nayagan, and Border 2.
