Indian stock markets opened higher on Tuesday, tracking a positive start amid global uncertainty surrounding US–China trade tensions and ongoing domestic earnings announcements.
The BSE Sensex climbed 235
points, or 0.29%, to open at 82,562, while the NSE Nifty50 advanced 55 points, or 0.22%, to 25,283.
In the broader markets, both the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices edged higher, gaining 0.37% and 0.38%, respectively.
Among sectoral indices, Nifty Metal led the gains with a 1% rise, supported by strength in select steel and mining counters. In contrast, the Nifty Pharma index slipped 0.37%, emerging as the session’s top laggard.
