Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty is all set to hit the theatres in a few weeks, and the song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ from the film was recently unveiled by the makers.
Soon after, comparisons began surfacing between this film and J.P. Dutta’s 1997 classic Border, starring Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, and Akshaye Khanna. Now, Border 2 producer and J.P Dutta’s daughter Nidhi Dutta has addressed the ongoing comparisons between the two films, stating that the intent was to never compete with the original film Border. She said her father created a masterpiece, whose record can never be broken. However, she added that both films are meant to honour and celebrate the stories of India’s brave soldiers, and Border 2 does the same.
Nidhi Dutta Reacts To Border 2 Vs Border Comparisons
On Sunday, Nidhi Dutta reacted to an Instagram post that read, “Will Border 2 be able to break the record of Border 1? Yes or No?” She shut down the comparisons, stating that the original film remains a timeless masterpiece created by her father J.P Dutta. “The idea was NEVER TO BREAK THE RECORD OF BORDER! Nobody ever can! My father created a Masterpiece! BUT HE MADE THAT FILM TO TELL STORIES OF OUR SOLDIERS AND BORDER 2 DOES THE SAME! THATS what’s important! Telling our soldier’s stories!” she wrote. Meanwhile, hours before the song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ was unveiled, Nidhi Dutta shared a note on Instagram that read, “Ghar kab aaoge/ Sandese Aate Hain releases today. A song that was created 29 years ago by the Genius of my father JP Dutta, Javed Saab, Anu Mallik, Sonu Nigam & Roop Kumar Rathod. Today we have Re envisioned it… not to change something that’s beyond perfect but to simply add more Stories of Our Soldiers & Their Families longing for them back home. Same Emotions, Lyrics that Echo The Heartache of New Characters but the Same Immortal Melody.”
She further added, “I Hope the Audiences feel the same about this one as they have the first version for all these years. A Power Packed Team backing this one…But Also just a Daughter trying to take her father’s legacy and make him proud. Give this song all the love. This one’s for you Papa & for Our Armed Forces.”
