The new Yellow Line connecting R V Road to Bommasandra has arrived with all the excitement Bengaluru usually reserves for a new brunch cafe or a long weekend. But as always, reality comes knocking in the form of a simple commuter question.
Where do you park before boarding the metro? The city has waited years for this corridor, yet the parking rollout has landed with gaps that can make or break a daily rider’s routine. Bengaluru has always been a place where the first mile feels longer than the journey itself. Most office goers travel from their homes to the station on bikes or in cars, hoping the metro will take over from there.
When parking becomes hit or miss, the metro advantage starts to slip. So here is the clear picture of what is open,
what is missing, and what you should know before planning a park and ride life on the Yellow Line.
Where Parking Is Actually Available
Out of the 16 stations on the Yellow Line, parking is currently available at 11. These include Ragigudda, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Bommanahalli, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, Hosa Road, Electronic City, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, Biocon Hebbagodi, and Delta Electronics Bommasandra.
Electronic City takes the crown with a massive 851 vehicle capacity, including 36 car bays. This makes it the safest and most dependable parking hub for those working in or around E City. The mid-sized parking lots at Ragigudda, BTM Layout, Silk Board, and Hongasandra also manage decent daily crowds without collapsing under pressure.
Stations like Bommanahalli, Kudlu Gate, and Hosa Road sit at the lower end of capacity. They work on quieter days but can fill up quickly during peak office hours. Early morning riders may secure a slot, but anyone arriving after 9 am should keep a backup station in mind.
And then comes the odd one out. R V Road, the interchange between Green Line and Yellow Line. Despite being one of the most important nodes in the network, it offers no parking at all. Feeder buses and autos are your only real options here.
Parking Fees You Should Know
| Vehicle Type | 0 to 2 Hours | Each Additional Hour | Full Day Up To 12 Hours |
| Two wheeler | Rs 15 | Rs 5 | Rs 30 |
| Four wheeler | Rs 30 | Rs 10 | Rs 60 |
| Light commercial vehicle | Rs 75 | Rs 25 | Rs 150 |
| Bicycle | Rs 1 per hour | Not applicable | Rs 10 |
Overnight parking is not permitted on any Yellow Line station premises.
The Rules Before You Park
The parking system follows a first come, first serve format. There is no advance reservation or digital token system, so availability depends entirely on when you arrive. You must pay before exiting and retain the parking slip until the end. Losing it can lead to being billed the full day rate regardless of how long you stayed.
Cars must use only marked car bays. Two wheelers must stay within their assigned zone. Vehicles outside the lines risk towing. Security personnel will stop entry once the lot is full, especially at Electronic City and Silk Board, which see continuous inflow throughout the day.
How To Pick The Right Station
If you work in Electronic City, park directly at Electronic City station or consider Silk Board as a strong alternative. If you are coming in from the Bommasandra side, Delta Electronics Bommasandra and Hebbagodi give you steadier availability with fewer crowds.
For residents around J P Nagar or R V Road, heading straight to Ragigudda or BTM Layout is the smarter move. R V Road offers smooth interchanges but zero parking, so planning the first mile becomes essential.
The Yellow Line promises faster travel, but the parking ecosystem still feels like Bengaluru in its usual state, hopeful yet underprepared. Knowing where to go, what to expect, and how early to arrive can make a big difference. With a little planning, the new corridor can actually work in your daily routine rather than let you down before you even lock your bike.
