After a hectic week, filled with work and responsibilities, all a person wants is to rest, relax and unwind during the weekend. That’s what a man living in Pune, Maharashtra, had at least planned. But his breakfast plan went for a toss when a child seated at his next table decided to watch a cartoon at full volume inside an otherwise quiet restaurant.
Taking to X, the man, named Kiran Puranik, shared the experience, explaining that he hoped to enjoy a quiet morning on a Saturday over coffee and breakfast. But he found himself listening to Chhota Bheem playing at full volume as a child’s parents decided to keep him occupied while they had food at the restaurant.
“Your Idea Of A Good, Calm Breakfast Goes For A Toss”
“You go to a good cafe for a calm
breakfast on a fine Saturday morning.. A family with a kid comes and takes a table next to you. So far, so good,” he wrote. The situation, however, changed when he realised that the child would only eat while watching YouTube videos.
He shared, “Soon you realise this kid has a habit of eating with loud, annoying YouTube videos on. Otherwise, he doesn’t eat. So his parents handed over one of their mobiles and put on a show for him.”
He claimed that the parents handed the child their phone and played Chhota Bheem at a volume that overpowered the cafe’s soft music. “Now the mild cafe music is overpowered by the annoying Chhota Bheem show. Your idea of a good, calm breakfast goes for a toss. But the proud parents are having the time of their lives,” he added.
Internet Reacts
The post quickly gained traction on social media, with users offering differing opinions. Many agreed that playing videos aloud in public places can disturb others and argued that headphones or lower volume should be the norm. Others said the issue was not limited to children, noting that many adults also do so.
“I have seen many parents practising this very, very unhealthy habit; if in public, it is a nuisance. In India, we can’t even discard them out of creating a ruckus. To my surprise, parents do it in hospitals too,” shared an individual.

“I think this has been a lingering and serious issue in all age groups of listening to everything on high volumes on speaker. I have pointed this out many instances to people; I know no one likes to be pointed out, but we should stop when people do this,” said a user.
Another user wrote, “Cafes and other public places need to put signs saying devices have to be on mute or use headphones.”
Someone else quipped, “Common these days. Forget kids. In public places, I see adults playing bhajans, Instagram reels, YT videos, listening to news, playing B&W songs and discussing family matters on top of their voice to make everyone aware of their issues.”
