Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor’s daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, recently ventured into acting with Daadi Ki Shaadi, which was released last month. The project was also significant as it marked veteran actor Neetu Kapoor’s return to the big screen after a four-year hiatus. It also starred Kapil Sharma and Sadia Khateeb in key roles. Reflecting on her new journey as an actor, Riddhima recently shared that she leaned on the guidance and support of her family, revealing that her mother, brother Ranbir Kapoor, and sister-in-law Alia Bhatt offered her valuable advice before she faced the camera.
While speaking to ANI, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who is married to Bharat Sahni, said that her brother Ranbir and his wife Alia gave her tips before her debut.
They asked her to be herself and not overact. She said, “I got tips from my mother, from my brother, from Alia, they said be yourself, don’t overact, don’t underplay, just go with the flow, and just do whatever you feel.” She also revealed that she received positive feedback on her debut performance.
Riddhima said, “Fortunately, a lot of people told me that I came across as very confident and natural. One of the nicest compliments I received came from a very old friend of my father’s, who is also from the industry. He told my mother, ‘Fish don’t have to be taught how to swim.’ I thought that was probably the biggest compliment I received.” She also reacted to Aamir Khan’s appreciation, who said that she was better than Ranbir. Responding to the same, she said, “It is very kind as well, but there’s nothing like that. Ranbir is better, of course, but I tried.”
Speaking about Ranbir Kapoor’s reaction to her performance, Riddhima shared that although they didn’t get the opportunity to have an in-depth conversation about the film, her brother was encouraging and supportive of her acting debut. She added, “He said I had great screen presence. To be honest, after the promotions ended, we all went back to our lives. Ranbir got busy with his shoot, so I never really got the chance to sit down and discuss it with him.”
Talking about Alia, she said, “But I did spend some time with Alia, and she told me, ‘You were very natural, and very confident for a debut film. Your screen presence was amazing.’ So those were the kinds of conversations that were happening, and of course, it felt very encouraging to hear that.”
