Television actress Shivangi Joshi has been making headlines ever since she entered Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh-hosted Lock Upp 2. From her emotional revelations to her growing bond with actor Harshad Chopda, the actress has remained one of the most talked-about contestants this season. Their friendship, which first began when they starred together in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 4, has become a major talking point inside and outside the house, with fans frequently discussing their camaraderie and chemistry. In the latest episode, Shivangi was nominated to expose her secret, where she spoke about her family’s condition when she was a child.
During a recent nomination task on Lock Upp 2, the phrase “bread and butter” prompted Shivangi Joshi to open
up about one of the most difficult phases of her life. The actress revealed that her father’s transport business suffered massive losses, leaving her family in a severe financial crisis. According to Shivangi, the entire blame for the failed business fell on her father, and the situation became so dire that the family was left with almost nothing. Recalling those days, she said they had “literally come on the streets” and struggled to arrange even their daily bread and butter. She also revealed that her parents washed dishes in a cafe to earn some money. Faced with the family’s financial hardships, Shivangi said she took on responsibilities at a young age and began working to help support her loved ones. Shivangi got emotional while recalling the tough days.
However, shortly after the episode aired, social media users resurfaced an old interview in which Shivangi allegedly said that her father served in the Army. The clip quickly went viral, with several users questioning the consistency of her statements and accusing her of fabricating her story. Many even labelled her “fake” and “jhoothi” in the comments. In the resurfaced clip, Shivangi is seen showing a childhood photograph of herself while talking about her short “fauji cut” hairstyle. She says her father served in the Army and would often insist on giving her a boy-cut hairstyle, which is why she sported the look as a child.
Shivangi Joshi really should’ve remembered what she has said in interviews! Her father was in the army… not a businessman! So the whole eating bread and butter on the streets and working in a cafe was a lie to gain sympathy 🤡#LockUpp #LockUpp2 pic.twitter.com/lWvYssmlUl

The comments section was filled with trolling remarks. One user wrote, “So many people saying after retirement from army, his father did bysiness. Guys do you have idea army persons gets pension after retirement. So ye bread butter is just acting, that too bad.” Another user wrote, “Bhaisahab i was a fan! But she has literally so many contradictions with her own statements from the past! She has literally used harshad is the show! She used her serial bahu antics to the fullest! Sympathy queen @shivangijoshi10 winner ban jao toh bhi koi matlab nahi hai.” A third user wrote, “Made up story.” One of the comments also read, “Oh bhai, secret bhi jhootha.”
Meanwhile, during the nomination task, Shivangi also opened up about a deeply personal experience from her childhood. The actress alleged that she was molested as a child by a man she considered like an uncle. Her revelation left many viewers emotional, with fans expressing support and applauding her for speaking about such a painful experience on a public platform.
