Suniel Shetty recently became emotional at an event for Border 2 while recalling the difficult phase his son Ahan Shetty went through after his debut film Tadap failed at the box office. The actor later opened up about the moment, admitting that fatherhood makes him vulnerable in ways nothing else does.
“When It Comes To Your Children, Parents Become Most Vulnerable”
Speaking to E Times, Suniel explained why he got teary-eyed during the Border 2 song launch. He said that the father in him took over and he did not feel the need to hide his emotions.
“When it comes to your children, I think parents are most vulnerable and become a completely different person,” Suniel said.
He recalled that the moment became overwhelming when Ahan placed his hand on
his back during the event. According to Suniel, that simple gesture triggered his emotions, but he has no hesitation about being vulnerable in front of his children.
“I don’t mind being emotional in front of my children. That’s who I really am,” he added.
Suniel Shetty On Defending Ahan Against Trolls And Negative PR
Suniel also spoke about his strong reactions in the past when his son was targeted by trolls and negative publicity. While he maintains a hands-off approach when it comes to Ahan’s career choices, he made it clear that personal attacks will not be tolerated.
“I will not let go. I will take you on. I will take you on the way you want me to take you on, because I am clean and honest and also fearless,” Suniel said, calling himself an old-school Shetty boy.
He further explained that honesty gives him the courage to stand up for his family whenever required.
“It’s My Son’s Film, So It’s My Film”
The actor revealed that he never interfered during the making of Tadap and did not even ask to see a single frame of Border 2. He shared that he attended the Border 2 event only because the makers invited him.
“I didn’t interfere at all during Tadap. I didn’t ask to see anything. It’s my son’s film, so it is my film and I will do it,” Suniel said.
However, he added that his experience in the industry naturally puts him in a position where he will continue guiding Ahan whenever needed.
Suniel On Ahan’s Struggles After Tadap Flopped
At the Border 2 event, Suniel openly acknowledged that Ahan went through a tough phase after his debut film failed.
“After his first film, there was a little break in his life and career,” Suniel said.
Addressing the perception that star kids get easy opportunities, he added, “Sab bolte hain ke Suniel Shetty ka beta hai, kaam toh bahut hi milta hai. But somewhere or the other, there’s a lot that Ahan went through in life.”
Expressing gratitude to the Border 2 team, Suniel said, “I am happy that he got Border 2 as his second film. Usse badiya film nahi mil sakti. And I just pray that he has done justice and the film works for all of us.”
