Rani Mukerji’s cop drama Mardaani 3 hit theatres on January 30th, and the movie has been receiving a positive response at the box office. The film grew by 81 percent from Friday to Sunday, taking total
India collections to ₹17.25 crore in 3 days and worldwide collections to ₹28 crore gross (India ₹21 crore gross and overseas ₹7 crore gross)! As the movie continued to earn numbers, Rani Mukerji thanked her fans for showering love on her action thriller.
Overwhelmed with the response, Rani shared, “The love you have shown for Mardaani 3 is overwhelming, not just for me as an actor but for what this film represents. This film belongs to every viewer who believes that cinema can do more than entertain…it can maybe speak to our conscience.”
“For years, the Mardaani franchise has told stories that are uncomfortable, urgent, and necessary. These stories exist because the reality they reflect still exists around us. Every daughter of this country deserves safety, dignity, education, and the freedom to dream without fear,” the actress continued.
Rani further added, “If Mardaani 3 has moved you, disturbed you, or made you think, then it has done its job. Discomfort is where change begins. Our girls do not need our sympathy. They need our protection. They need our courage. They need our voices right now and not tomorrow because just a film alone cannot bring change. Change begins in our homes, in our schools, in our streets. It begins when we teach our sons how to respect, when we empower our daughters with confidence, and when we stand up for a girl child who cannot stand up for herself.”
Rani concluded, saying, “I hope this film reminds us that courage is not just worn on a police uniform, it lives in everyday choices made by ordinary people who decide to do the right thing. Thank you for embracing this story. I’m truly humbled by how Mardaani 3’s message has connected with the audience.”
About Mardaani 3
This time around, Shivani is seen joining the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and taking charge of a chilling case involving the kidnapping of two young girls. As Shivani digs deeper into the investigation, the case spirals into something far more sinister, revealing a nationwide human trafficking network run by an elderly woman named Amma, played by Mallika Prasad. What initially appears to be a trafficking case soon exposes links to a larger beggar mafia, indicating organised crime operating under the guise of helplessness.
Mardaani 3 also features Shaitaan fame Janaki Bodiwala in a pivotal role. The film is written by Aayush Gupta, known for penning YRF’s The Railway Men, and directed by Abhiraj Minawala. The project is produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner.
