A Canadian content creator has started a discussion online after praising Hyderabad’s roads and questioning why Bengaluru struggles to offer similar infrastructure. In a video shared on Instagram, he appeared surprised by the smooth roads, lack of potholes and relatively easier traffic movement in Hyderabad.
The man, identified as Caleb Friesen, recorded the clip while travelling through the city in a car. Looking outside the window, he repeatedly pointed out how different the driving experience felt compared to Bengaluru.
Tech Vlogger Praises Hyderabad Roads
In the video, Friesen could be heard saying, “What are these roads in Hyderabad? This is incredible. I don’t understand why Bengaluru can’t have roads like this.”
He explained that he was travelling
within the city and noticed wide roads connecting different areas smoothly.
According to him, the roads looked properly maintained and made commuting much easier. “This is in the city. We’re actually in the city right now. And it feels like everywhere that we’re going, there’s roads like this that are just connecting different localities and making it easy to get around,” he said.
Friesen also spoke about the condition of the roads and traffic movement. “They’re so well paved. There’s no potholes. There’s not a single pothole. Look at this. It’s in perfect condition,” he added.
He further noted that he did not see pedestrians or animals interrupting traffic frequently, something he implied happens more often in other cities.
He Compares It With Bengaluru
In the caption of his Instagram post, Friesen explained his thoughts in more detail. He wrote that Hyderabad’s main roads looked “immaculate” and said he had spotted very few potholes during his time in the city.
He also compared traffic conditions with Bengaluru, saying Hyderabad appeared to handle congestion better because of stronger road infrastructure.
“That doesn’t mean Hyderabad doesn’t have traffic, but they’ve done a much better job of building up high-quality road infrastructure to mitigate the traffic and accelerate the process of getting around,” he wrote.
Friesen added that travelling across Hyderabad usually did not take extremely long. According to him, it was uncommon to spend more than an hour commuting between two points in the city.

Internet Joins The Debate
The video quickly led to reactions online, with many users comparing Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
A user wrote, “Hyderabad roads are definitely better in many areas, especially the main stretches.” Another commented, “Bengaluru needs this kind of planning urgently. The traffic is becoming unbearable.”
Some people agreed that Hyderabad’s infrastructure has improved significantly over the years. Others, however, felt the comparison was too broad. “Every city has good and bad roads. You probably travelled through the better parts of Hyderabad,” a person said.
Another user argued that Bengaluru’s traffic problems are connected to rapid growth and poor planning rather than roads alone. A Hyderabad resident also joked, “Please don’t praise Hyderabad too much, rents will go up here too.”
