New Delhi, Sep 29 (PTI) The Delhi Police has arrested a 28-year-old who is allegedly involved in 91 criminal cases, including robbery, snatching, theft, attempt to murder and assault on police personnel, officials said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Deva, a resident of Delhi, was arrested from Sector 16 in Greater Noida on September 26, they said.
Police said Deva had been declared a proclaimed offender in three cases, including an attempt-to-murder case and cases related to assault and robbery. He had allegedly been evading arrest by frequently changing his hideouts and had shifted to Greater Noida, where he was working as a labourer, according to police.
“The accused is a bad character of police station Bindapur and is involved in 91
cases registered across various police stations, involving robbery, snatching, theft, house theft, attempt to murder, assault on public servants and offences under the Arms Act,” an officer said.
He was declared a proclaimed offender in FIRs registered at Dwarka North police station in 2018 and 2020, while proceedings against him in connection with a 2021 attempt-to-murder case at Bindapur police station had also resulted in him being declared a PO, police said.
According to police, he had also been evading proceedings in several other cases, including those registered at Dabri and Bindapur police stations.
During interrogation, Deva disclosed that he had studied up to Class 8 and later became involved in crime with the intention of making easy money, police said.
In one of the cases, registered in 2018 at Dwarka North police station, Deva and his associates allegedly assaulted a police officer while he was performing his duty and attempted to snatch his service pistol, police said.
A scuffle followed during which Deva sustained a gunshot injury to his foot.. PTI SSJ RT
