Mustafizur Rahman is playing for Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2025, and on Saturday, September 20, during his team’s first Super 4s match against Sri Lanka, he picked up 3 wickets for 20 runs in four overs. The three-wicket show in the match taking place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium helped Rahman equal Shakib Al Hasan’s record of most wickets for Bangladesh in the 20-over format of the game.
Shakib played 129 T20Is for Bangladesh from 2006 to 2024 and dismissed 149 batters. On the other hand, Rahman has 149 wickets to his credit in 117 matches.

In Bangladesh’s next Super 4s match, which is set to take place against India in Dubai on Wednesday, September 24, Rahman will have a chance to become Bangladesh’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is. One wicket in the next two matches for Bangladesh will also help him become the first Bangladeshi to dismiss 150 batters in T20Is.
As of now, only three bowlers – Rashid Khan of Afghanistan, Tim Southee of New Zealand and his teammate Ish Sodhi – have picked up 150+ wickets in T20Is.
