Ranveer Singh has pulled off one of the most surprising box office releases of 2025 with Dhurandhar. Released on December 5, the Aditya Dhar-directed spy thriller opened to low expectations, but its theatrical performance tells a completely different story. With a solid opening day collection of Rs 28 crore, the film accelerated sharply through the week, wrapping up its first seven days with an impressive Rs 207.25 crore net at the Indian box office.
The film’s ensemble cast features talented stars including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sara Arjun. Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of Rehman Dakait, coupled with his viral entry on the track FA9LA, has especially fuelled online chatter, helping the film stay
in the buzz throughout the week.
By the end of its opening week, Dhurandhar’s earnings saw a noteworthy trajectory, and the film secured the second position among the Top 10 biggest opening weeks of 2025. Even after the weekend, collections climbed steadily, thanks to positive word-of-mouth and repeat audience interest.
The only film ahead of Dhurandhar in terms of first-week collection is Vicky Kaushal’s historical epic Chhaava, which crossed Rs 219.25 crore in its first seven days. Considering Dhurandhar had relatively low pre-release buzz and modest advance bookings, this feat has turned out to be proof of how content-driven momentum can overpower hype.
Saiyaara Secures Third Spot
In the 2025 box office race, Saiyaara currently occupies the third spot with an opening week collection of Rs. 172.75 crore. Next up, there are War 2 and Housefull 5, which follow in the fourth and fifth positions respectively. Notably, while War 2 collected Rs 150.40 crore, Housefull 5 earned Rs 127.25 crore. It needs to be noted that these are the only films to cross the Rs 100 crore mark within their first seven days this year.
The list of Top 10 films with the highest opening weeks further includes names like Raid 2, Thamma, Sitaare Zameen Par, Sikandar and Sky Force.
All Eyes Are On Dhurandhar
Coming back to Dhurandhar, the film is currently in its second week and trade expectations around it are hopeful. Strong weekday trends, packed evening shows and growing mass acceptance suggest that the film could register an even bigger second-week jump, and all eyes are on Ranveer Singh’s film, whether it will be able to shatter box office records.
