Chennai Super Kings logged a 8-wicket triumph over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday in the IPL 2026 encounter between the sides as CSK limited DC to 155 runs, before racing to the target thanks to Sanju Samson’s blinder half-century.
Samson’s unbeaten 87 off 52 balls helped Chennai breach the target of 156 with 15 balls to spare as Kartik Sharma accompanied him with an unbeaten 41-run innings.
DC won the toss and opted to bat first but faced early obstacles as Pathum Nissanka fell early to Mukesh Choudhary for 19, before KL Rahul was removed by Akeal Hussain for 12.
Noor Ahmed came in to bowl and scalped Karun Nair for 13 and Nitish Rana for 15 runs. DC skipper Axar Patel fell cheaply for 2 runs to Gurjapneet,
before Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi steadied the hosts’ innings.
Stubbs went on to add 38 runs before Jamie Overton removed the South African, batter while CSK old boy Rizvi added and unbeaten 40-runs to take DC to a total of 155/7 in 20 overs.
Samson began the chase alongside skipper Gaikwad, who was removed for 6 runs by Lungisani Ngidi before Urvil Patel chipped in with a 17-run knock off 9 deliveries. Karthik Sharma walked in to hold crease as Samson took centre stage with yet another blistering half-century to lead the chase.
Samson shifted through the gears effortlessly to take the game away from the hosts as he ensured the asking rate wouldn’t be a bother with a steady supply of boundaries. Kartik, who registered a fifty in his previous innings, played good support to Samson’s sizzler.
The duo notched up an 114-run partnership to take the visitors past the finish line in dominant fashion as Chennai took their season’s tally to 10 points from as many games to amp up their shout for a playoff spot. Delhi have 8 points from 10 outings this season with 4 wins and 6 defeats.
