Ace India batter Virat Kohli has checked into the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to obtain medical clearance ahead of next month’s ODI series against England. He had sustained a rare distal semimembranosus tendon tear in his right leg during the IPL 2026 final, which ruled him out of the three-match series against Afghanistan. Although Kohli has been named in the squad for the England tour, his availability remains subject to fitness.
As Kohli works his way back under the watchful eyes of the medical team, his presence at the BCCI CoE has created a buzz. Fellow cricketers have been seen eagerly interacting with the India stalwart, clicking pictures with him, many of which are now going viral on social media.

One of those budding cricketers was Ayush Mhatre, India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning skipper, who got a picture with Kohli at the CoE and shared it on his Instagram profile.
“An unforgettable conversation with a legend,” Mahtre’s caption read.
A Look At Mhatre’s Career
Ayush Mhatre’s promising IPL 2026 campaign with Chennai Super Kings was cut short by a hamstring injury, but not before he made a strong impact. At the time of his exit, he was CSK’s leading run-scorer, amassing 201 runs in six innings at an average of 33.50 and a strike rate of 177.87, including two fifties and a top score of 73.
Across formats, the Mumbaikar has showcased remarkable consistency. In List A cricket, he has scored 458 runs in seven matches at an average of 65.42. His T20 numbers are equally impressive, 766 runs in 19 games at a strike rate of 176.09. He also impressed in the U-19 World Cup with 214 runs and seven wickets.
