In a film as massive as Border 2, featuring stars like Varun Dhawan, Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, it’s natural for other cast members to worry about being overshadowed. Paramvir Singh Cheema, who plays Subedar Nishaan Singh in the film and is known for shows like Sapne Vs Everyone and Black Warrant, admitted to having similar concerns.
In a conversation with ANI, the actor opened up about his initial doubts regarding the project and also shared behind-the-scenes anecdotes involving Varun Dhawan and Sunny Deol.
‘I Might Get Lost Amid The Big Stars’
Paramvir shared in his interview that while he liked the opportunity to be part of Border 2, he was initially apprehensive about getting lost amid the many stars in the film. Reflecting
on his journey, he said, “When you think about your journey, you think about moving forward.”
He also spoke about his concerns regarding typecasting, noting that he has previously worn a turban in Tabbar and Black Warrant and did not want to be seen only in such roles. In Border 2, he appears without a turban.
He Made Sure Nothing Went Wrong
Paramvir recalled meeting Border 2 director Anurag Singh and candidly sharing his concerns, after which he was selected for the role. He added that coming from an army background, he felt a deep sense of responsibility. Calling Border a landmark film rooted in patriotism and focused on the lives of soldiers, Paramvir said he wanted to ensure that everything was done right.
On Working With Sunny Deol And Varun Dhawan
Recalling his experience working with Sunny Deol, Paramvir shared that he didn’t get much screen time with the actor. Despite that, he said the experience was completely “surreal and unforgettable.”
Talking about Varun Dhawan, Paramvir said, “I thought that he was such a big star, and what if he has tantrums? But, there was nothing. He was our boss in the film. I remember Varun Dhawan coming to talk to me. At that time, Black Warrant was also released, and he saw it. He used to tell me, ‘I like your work a lot, Param’. If you see our scenes, there are very interesting ones.”
Border 2 was released on January 23.
