US President Donald Trump said Friday that the United States could strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain “very soon”, asserting that Tehran would not be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon.
Located near Iran’s damaged Natanz uranium-enrichment facility, the Pickaxe Mountain is described as a heavily fortified underground complex containing two deeply buried tunnel systems.
Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump defended the United States’ months-long campaign against Iran and reiterated that the main objective was to prevent Tehran from building a nuclear weapon.
“We’re in five months now. And you know what we did in five months? They’re not going to have a nuclear weapon, that’s what we did,” he said.
On February 28, the US and Israel launched
coordinated strikes on multiple targets across Iran, killing its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Iran retaliated by launching attacks across the Gulf and targeting US-linked military facilities.
Subsequently, Iran also blocked the vital Strait of Hormuz, a move that significantly affected global energy flows.
‘If Anything Goes Bad, We Hit Them Hard’
Trump renewed his threat against Iran, saying the United States would “hit them hard” if any activity is detected at Pickaxe.

“We know everybody that’s moving at Pickaxe, we know everybody that’s moving everywhere all over Iran. And if anything goes bad, we hit them, we hit them hard,” he said.
About Pickaxe Mountain
The Pickaxe Mountain, located near Natanz, is believed to be a heavily fortified underground complex containing two deeply buried tunnel systems. The site’s underground construction is thought to make it resistant to conventional aerial bombardment.
According to an earlier Wall Street Journal report, Israeli intelligence believed that Iran had moved thousands of centrifuges to the facility.
Last year, the United States had launched major attacks on three key nuclear sites in Iran: Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow.
Trump’s remarks come amid a renewed escalation between the US and Iran, after the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) launched a series of strikes on multiple targets across the country.
According to the CENTCOM, the strikes were in response to “recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members.”
