India squad selection for Test and ODI series vs Afghanistan LIVE Updates: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) senior men’s selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, is set to announce India’s squad for the one-off Test and three-match ODI series against Afghanistan later this week. India will host Afghanistan in a bilateral series from June 6 to 20.
As per the available information, the BCCI selectors are expected to announce a full-strength squad for the one-off Test in New Chandigarh, starting on June 6. However, it remains to be seen whether world No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah will be picked. Reports suggest that due to workload management, Bumrah could be rested for the India-Afghanistan Test, especially since it is not
part of the ongoing WTC 2025-27 cycle.
In Bumrah’s absence, Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi Dar could earn his maiden India call-up. Auqib played a key role in J&K’s maiden Ranji Trophy title win earlier this year by finishing as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker.
As far as the ODI squad is concerned, India’s fast-bowling attack will be under focus, especially with Harshit Rana ruled out due to injury and Mohammed Shami no longer in the selectors’ plans. There are also question marks over the selection of Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and Axar Patel.
Reports have also claimed that Prince Yadav, who has impressed with his performances for Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing 2026 edition of the IPL, is in line to earn his maiden India call-up for the ODI series.
