Diwali is here and with it comes the usual glitter, lights and a little bit of drama. Recently, social media made one society in Noida the centre of attention for an unexpected reason. While most balconies
shone bright with decorations, one stood out for being… well, barely decorated.
In 14th Avenue, Gaur City-2, two flatmates unintentionally became viral stars. Their minimal Diwali decoration with just a single green fairy light became the highlight on social media, which made everyone stop and laugh.
The Balcony That Said ‘I’m Too Lazy’
Noida-based vlogger Karun Lakshya shared the video on Instagram, zooming into the balcony and laughed, saying, “So guys abhi dekho kitne logo ne kitni mehnat ki hai na. Kitna sundar lag raha hai na. Lekin ek shaks hai humari iss society mein (Look at how much effort everyone has put in. It looks beautiful. But there’s one guy in our society)”
He added, “Keh raha hai, bhai main nahi laga raha. Bhaad mein gaya sab kuch. Mai ja rahu hu andar, mujhse ni hora ye kaam. Itni si light lagake bhaishahab gayab hai (He’s saying, ‘I’m not putting it up. To hell with everything. I’m going inside.’ After putting this tiny light, the guy disappeared).”
He captioned the video: “Ek aalsi insaan ki kahani during Diwali preparation (The story of a lazy man during Diwali preparation).”

The clip gained significant traction online as it amassed over thirty million views. Seeing this, Maddy decided to visit the apartment and even brought a few fairy lights as a gift for the flatmates.
The Bachelors Explain
When the vlogger reached the apartment, he found Kulwant and Yageshwar were bachelors. “Main pehle hi jaanta tha bachelor hoga (I knew the flat would have bachelors living in it),” Maddy joked.

Yageshwar explained why the balcony was barely decorated: “To be frank, wo light waha par 12 mahine tak lagi rehti hai. Just because waha par plants lage hue hai (That light has been there for 12 months of the year. Just because there were plants, we didn’t put up more lights).”
He also admitted that he had initially planned to decorate properly but changed his mind after seeing the viral video. “Main lagane wala tha par wo aapki video dkhi toh socha ab nahi lagaunga (I was going to put it up, but after seeing your video, I decided not to),” he said with a laugh.
Soon after, Kulwant arrived with string lights and started decorating the balcony. A new video showed him hanging the lights while a woman off-camera said, “Ab iss bande ko akal aayi hai toh ye poori balcony mein light laga raha hai (Now this man has realised, so he is putting lights on the whole balcony).” Later, the yellow lights were finally lit for Diwali.

When One Balcony Ruled Instagram
The funny video didn’t just stop at views; it completely hijacked people’s Instagram feeds. Everyone scrolling through reels or stories seemed to stumble upon the tiny balcony.
One user commented, “Kuch to kiya bhai ne. It’s the thought that matters (At least he did something. It’s the thought that counts).”
Another said, “Stuck in insta multiverse,” while someone else remarked, “Puri feed es society mein fas chuki hai (My entire feed is stuck on this society).”
A person wrote, “Actually you should appreciate this guy had participated.”
“Finally collaboration ho gaya (Finally, collaboration happened),” a viewer shared.
“Ye jagah tourist attraction ban gaya hain (This place has become a tourist attraction),” “Is society ne insta kabza karli hai (This society has taken over Instagram),” “Bro bullied by Internet” and “Watched all seasons of epic lights” were some other remarks.
Who knew a single fairy light could start so much chaos online?
