Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty recently turned emotional while speaking about the challenging phase his son Ahaan Shetty went through following his debut film Tadap. The actor opened up at the song launch event of Border 2, sharing a candid father’s perspective on how difficult the journey can be even for star kids.
Addressing the common perception that children of actors have an easy path in the industry, Suniel revealed that Ahaan faced a brief lull after his first film, which deeply impacted the entire family. Speaking honestly about that period, he said, “One day, after his first film, there was a little break. You know, there’s always a turmoil in our lives.”
Suniel went on to underline that success does not come automatically, regardless
of lineage. “Everyone thinks, yes, Suniel Shetty’s son would have got a lot of work. But somewhere or the other, there’s a lot that Ahan went through in life,” he added.
The actor admitted that watching his son navigate disappointment and uncertainty was emotionally draining, but it also became a test of patience, resilience and faith for the family.
‘There’s a Lot That He Went Through in Life’
Expressing gratitude to the makers of Border 2, Suniel said he felt deeply thankful that Ahaan landed a film of such scale at a crucial point in his career. Calling it the right opportunity at the right time, he said, “I am so happy that he got a film like Border 2, which couldn’t have been a better film. And I just pray that he has done justice and the film works for all of us.”
Suniel also spoke about the values he has consistently tried to instil in his son. “The only thing I said was, whatever you do, do it with your heart,” he shared, adding that sincerity and hard work matter more than quick success.
Reflecting on the support his family received during Ahaan’s tough phase, Suniel said he feels deeply indebted to Border 2 producer Nidhi Dutta. “That’s why I have always been indebted, and I use the word ‘indebted’. I am not saying a thank you, but I use the word indebted to Nidhu. Nidhi is like my little daughter,” he said, acknowledging the emotional backing extended to Ahaan and the family.
Suniel Shetty Calls Border 2 a ‘Blessing’
Highlighting what Border 2 means to him as a father, Suniel added, “For Nidhi to take Ahan in such a big film is a big thing. So, from a father’s point of view, I am indebted.” He further thanked the team for believing in his son, saying, “A big thank you to everybody for letting that happen, they showed so much love towards Ahaan. I am so grateful for it all.”
Suniel also expressed gratitude to director JP Dutta for the opportunity. “I would like to thank JP, who gave me the opportunity. And today, Ahaan is here because of that. Thank you all,” he said.
For the uninitiated, Ahaan Shetty made his acting debut with Tadap in 2021, which failed to perform well at the box office. Border 2 stars Ahaan alongside Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan and is slated for release on January 23 this year.
