Star India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was on Saturday, July 25, seen turning an easy run-out into a viral moment after he threw the ball without any direction instead of towards the wicket and couldn’t catch the batter short of his crease.
The bizarre incident unfolded on the penultimate delivery of Ravi Bishnoi’s 15th over during Zimbabwe’s chase in the second T20I in Harare on Saturday. Tadiwanashe Marumani nudged the ball to deep backward point for a single, but what followed seemed straight out of a comedy movie.
Marumani turned down the second run, gesturing to Newman Nyamhuri, who was already charging towards the striker’s end. The confusion left both Zimbabwe batters stranded at the bowler’s end, with no one inside the striker’s crease.
With the ball in his gloves, Kishan seemed to have the easiest run-out of his career on a platter. Except… he couldn’t realise it. Instead of dislodging the bails or throwing the ball to Bishnoi, the wicketkeeper rolled an underarm throw that travelled halfway down the track.
By the time Kishan realised the confusion unfolding in front of him, the chance had slipped away. All he could do was place his hand on his head, wearing an expression that said it all after the missed opportunity.

Meanwhile, commanding fifties from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma, backed by a disciplined bowling effort, powered India to a comprehensive 90-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second T20I in Harare on Saturday, sealing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Chasing 220 was never going to be easy for the Africans and the fate of the game was sealed when they lost five wickets inside nine overs.
They were bundled out for a paltry 129, well short of India’s 219/5, which was constructed around Kishan’s 81 and Tilak’s unbeaten 60.
