A foreigner was pleasantly surprised when he struck up a conversation with an auto driver in Jaipur, Rajasthan. In a video posted on social media, the travel vlogger shared that the driver not only spoke French but was more fluent than he ever was. The light-hearted exchange between the digital creator, who is a cyclist travelling across the country, and the auto driver has taken the Internet by storm, and for all the right reasons.

In the clip, the cheerful auto driver was seen chatting comfortably in French as if it was his mother tongue. He said, “I speak French with the tourists.” When the vlogger jokingly remarked, “You have a better French accent than me,” the driver said, “Yeah, why not? It’s life. Besides his fluent French, the auto driver’s body language and manner of speaking also caught people’s attention, with many noting that they were similar to those of French people. In no time, the video racked up millions of views, with hundreds of people from across the world praising the auto driver’s French-speaking skills. Some even acknowledged his passion and curiosity. “This is just incredible. Imagine if he had real opportunities,” one said.

“Leave the language proficiency, look at his jargon, so sophisticated, like a well-educated, well-traveled guy. Amazing,” another complimented the guy.

A different individual noted, “This is very common in Rajasthan; people who work in the tourism industry might not have gone to school, but can speak and hold conversations in multiple European languages. Seen it myself in Jaipur, Udaipur.”
