US President Donald Trump has issued another warning to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney as trade tensions between the United States and Canada continue to escalate.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said it was “very good” for Canadian politicians such as Carney to make him “the enemy”. He warned that the situation could become politically damaging for Canadian leaders if Canada’s economy collapses.

Trump-Carney Trade Dispute Intensifies

Trump’s latest remarks come amid a deepening trade dispute between Washington and Ottawa. The relationship has become increasingly strained since trade negotiations between the two countries broke down in August.

The Trump administration has imposed a 50% tariff on around

$20 billion worth of Canadian goods, while Canada has responded with its own measures.

However, Canada has also been working to reduce its dependence on the US. Carney has pushed for greater trade diversification and argued that Canada needs to become less vulnerable to decisions made in Washington.

His Liberal Party recently won three special elections in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec, helping the party maintain its parliamentary majority.
