The Russo Brothers haven’t even wrapped up their next two Avengers films, but if the latest reports are to be believed, they may already have another Marvel project in the pipeline.
According to industry insider Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, directors Anthony and Joe Russo are reportedly working on one more Avengers film besides Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios, however, is yet to officially confirm the report.
Sharing the update, Perez said, “Just the exploration of a two-parter. I can confirm through sources and evidence provided recently that the Russos have another Avengers film that they’re working on aside from Doomsday and Secret Wars. Based on their statements, there’s a chance it’ll involve splitting Secret Wars into
two; however, it could also be the next Avengers installment.”
For now, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are the only two Avengers films officially announced by Marvel. So, the reported seventh film remains speculation at this stage.
The Russo Brothers are directing both upcoming movies, marking their return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers: Endgame. Avengers: Doomsday will reportedly bring together the Avengers, Wakandans, New Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men for a massive showdown.
The film will also see Robert Downey Jr. return to the MCU, but this time as Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, while Avengers: Secret Wars will hit theatres on December 17, 2027.
If the reports are true, Marvel could have another Avengers film lined up after Secret Wars. Until then, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from the studio.
