Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 In The Works; Anees Bazmee Says Kartik Aaryan Will Return To The Franchise

As Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 completes a year since its release, filmmaker Anees Bazmee has revealed that work has already begun on the fourth instalment of the hit horror-comedy franchise. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the director confirmed that actor Kartik Aaryan will continue to lead the series and hinted at exciting plans ahead.

“The World Wouldn’t Know His Comic Timing Without Bhool Bhulaiyaa”

Anees Bazmee couldn’t stop praising Kartik Aaryan for his performance in the franchise. “The world would have never known of his fabulous comic timing if it wasn’t for Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” the filmmaker said. “I am planning a couple of comedies with Kartik,” he added, confirming their ongoing creative partnership.

4 is officially in development. “Most definitely. It is a work in progress. The love that the series has accrued over the years is unsurpassable. So yeah, it is happening. The only factor that I can confirm is Kartik,” Anees said.

Anees on Working With Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan

Reflecting on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Bazmee spoke warmly about his experience directing Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan — two of Bollywood’s most celebrated actresses. “The two legends together never made me feel like I was working with legends,” he shared. “They were punctual, disciplined, competitive, and yet collaborative. Bohat maza aaya (Had a lot of fun).”

When asked whether the next chapter might reunite the two actresses, Bazmee kept his answer open-ended. “It could! On the other hand, we may have some other actress who has never been part of the franchise before,” he teased.

Celebrating One Year of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

Earlier in the day, the 63-year-old filmmaker marked the film’s anniversary with a heartfelt post on Instagram. “Last year, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 hit the theatres and the way audiences embraced it made it all worth it. The response, the warmth, and the journey since then have been truly special,” he wrote.

He expressed gratitude to his cast and crew, saying, “It was a great, fun journey, and thank you so much to all my lovely actors, producers, technicians, and everyone who was part of the set for making this journey so beautiful.”

The director ended his note by thanking fans: “Shukriya for all the love and duas (prayers).”
