New Delhi, Aug 29 (PTI) The national Capital saw a slight dip in the minimum temperature on Saturday, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast cloudy skies to continue for the next few days.
Safdarjung, representative of the city’s weather, recorded a minimum temperature of 27.7 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees above normal and a 0.1 degree decrease from the previous day.
The maximum temperature saw a slight increase, reaching 35.5 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees above normal and a 0.6-degree rise from Friday.
Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees lower than the day before; Lodhi Road recorded a minimum of 26.6 degrees Celsius; Ayanagar recorded a minimum of 26.9 degrees, a 0.2-degree decrease from the day before.
The IMD has forecast cloudy skies to continue for the next few days.
“Cloudy skies are expected to persist on Sunday. No rain has been forecast for the weekend,” an IMD official said. According to the IMD forecast, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 35-37 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
The minimum temperature is likely to be around 25-27 degrees Celsius. The city’s air quality index (AQI) remained in the moderate category on Saturday.
Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed that the 24-hour average AQI was 130 (moderate) at 4 pm, compared to 128 (moderate) at the same time on Friday.
As per CPCB standards, an AQI of 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’, and 401-500 ‘severe’. PTI AHD ASD ASD
