Haq Box Office: Yami Gautam, Emraan Hashmi’s Film Crosses Rs 8 Crore-Mark In Opening Weekend

After a decent start, Haq, starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, showed impressive growth over the weekend. The film’s box office collections soared on Saturday and maintained strong momentum on Sunday, suggesting that positive word-of-mouth is finally working in its favour. With audiences resonating with its emotionally charged narrative inspired by real-life courtroom drama, Haq now seems firmly on track for a successful run.

According to trade website Sacnilk, Haq collected an estimated Rs 3.75 crore net in India on Sunday, bringing its first weekend domestic total to Rs 8.85 crore. This is a significant increase in collection. The picture grossed Rs 3.35 crore on Saturday, a major jump from its Rs 1.75 crore debut.

The film recorded an overall

occupancy of 23.60% on Sunday. The highest footfall was observed during the evening shows (35.98%), while the morning shows saw a modest 9.54% turnout. The afternoon and night shows registered occupancies of 24.56% and 24.30%, respectively.

Haq is inspired by the life and legal battle of Shah Bano Begum, whose landmark case in 1985 convinced the Supreme Court to grant divorced Muslim women the right to maintenance.

Haq: Plot And Cast

The plot revolves around Shazia (Yami Gautam Dhar), a woman who marries Abbas Khan (Emraan Hashmi), a rich attorney. One day, Abbas unexpectedly brings home a second spouse. Not long after, he ended their marriage with triple talaq. The remainder of the film focuses on Shazia’s legal battle for her rights. Sheeba Chaddha and Vartika Singh have prominent roles in the film, which also stars Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam.

Haq, produced by Junglee Pictures in collaboration with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, follows the company’s legacy of creating controversial and topical films.
