Yash Calls Ramayana ‘India’s Dream’, Says Ranbir Kapoor Has ‘Surrendered’ To Lord Ram

Yash placed the collective ambition behind Ramayana above individual stardom while speaking at the film’s Pratham Sankalp event in New Delhi on Saturday. Addressing the gathering at Bharat Mandapam, the actor said the cast and crew had united around one purpose: taking the story of Lord Ram to audiences across the world.

The Delhi event formally began the promotional campaign for Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part adaptation, with Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Arun Govil, director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra among those present.

‘This Is India’s Dream’

Yash greeted the audience in several Indian languages before attempting part of his speech in Hindi. He credited Namit Malhotra for having the conviction to mount the film on such an expansive

scale and thanked him for entrusting him with an important role.

“I am genuinely happy to be part of this wonderful project,” Yash said. “The credit for bringing it to this stage belongs to Namit Malhotra. I am grateful to him for giving me the opportunity to play such a significant character.”

For Yash, however, Ramayana is not defined merely by its budget, visual effects or ensemble. He described it as “India’s dream” and said everyone working on the film had arrived with the same belief.

“We have all come together with one vision and one conviction: to take this story to a global platform,” he said. “Everyone has kept their individual interests aside. There is only one shared interest, which is to tell the story of Prabhu Shri Ram to audiences around the world and celebrate him in our own country.”

The actor thanked Malhotra for displaying the courage required to pursue an undertaking of this magnitude.

Yash Thanks Nitesh Tiwari For Guiding Him

Yash also acknowledged director Nitesh Tiwari for helping him navigate his character. The actor, who plays Ravana, said the filmmaker had patiently understood his questions and guided him through the role.

“Nitesh sir, thank you for guiding me, understanding what the character required, answering my questions and helping me do this,” he said.

Yash did not disclose how the film interprets Ravana or reveal details about his performance. His comments instead remained focused on the trust between an actor and his director.

Beyond playing Ravana, Yash is also associated with the production through his company, Monster Mind Creations, which partnered with Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios to develop the screen adaptation.

‘India Will Witness Ranbir’s Surrender’

Turning to his co-stars, Yash reserved some of his strongest praise for Ranbir Kapoor. He said viewers would recognise how completely Ranbir had submitted himself to the responsibility of portraying Lord Ram.

“Ranbir has been phenomenal,” Yash said. “I think the whole of India will understand how deeply he has surrendered to this role and see the magic he has created.”

He was equally appreciative of Sai Pallavi, calling her a “flawless actor”. According to Yash, much of her portrayal of Sita could be understood simply by watching her eyes.

“When you see her perform, her eyes say everything,” he added.

Yash also praised Shobana, saying her presence had brought grace and value to her character. He predicted that the actor playing Lakshman would emerge as one of the film’s biggest surprises.

“He will be a surprise package in this movie,” Yash said, adding that audiences could expect several more unexpected performances across the ensemble.

Taking Ramayana Beyond India

Yash’s address repeatedly returned to the film’s international ambition. Rather than framing Ramayana as the achievement of one actor or filmmaker, he described it as a shared undertaking built around cultural responsibility.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features Ranbir as Ram, Sai as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The first instalment is scheduled to arrive during Diwali 2026, with the concluding chapter planned for 2027.
