Ayushmann Khurrana is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Thamma, which stars him opposite Rashmika Mandanna. Over the years, Ayushmann has delivered amazing performances in several films,
but in his entire filmography, Article 15 still holds a special position. In a recent conversation, the actor spoke about how Anubhav Sinha had never planned to cast him in the film.
While speaking to SCREEN, Ayushmann revealed that Sinha had offered him a rom-com instead of Article 15, but he insisted that Sinha cast him in the film because that was the kind of change he wanted to break his image.
When asked about that one film he said yes or no to, which changed audience perception about him, he said, “I think saying yes to one particular film, Article 15, changed the perception of me. I was known for very light-hearted social comedies, and Article 15 is a very serious film based on casteism, and it did commercially well. Honestly, mene haa nahi ki thi; I snatched it from Anubhav Sinha. He offered me a rom-com, and I said I want to do this instead.”
The actor also talked about saying no to films in his career earlier and said, “I think I took these baby steps to success. Saying no is the most difficult part, especially when you are at the onset of your career, you are young, and you have just started. Saying no to big people is not easy, but that’s what makes you.”
Ayushmann Khurrana’s professional front
The actor will soon impress audiences in Aditya Sarpotdar’s much-awaited film Thamma. Produced by Maddock Films, the film featuresAyushmann Khurrana as Alok alongside Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka. Nawazuddin Siddiqui takes on the opposing force, Yakshasan, who threatens their love.
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal essays Ram Bajaj Goyal, a character that will bring humour to the otherwise chilling narrative. The supporting cast also features Geeta Aggarwal and Faisal Malik. Malaika Arora, on the other hand, adds glamour to the supernatural tale. Thamma is all set to send shivers down your spine this Diwali.
Reports also suggest that the actor will star in the upcoming film Prem Ki Shaadi, which is expected to go on floors this October.
