Highlighting the dedication and courage of India’s armed forces, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday urged citizens to contribute to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund to support veterans and the families
of fallen soldiers.
Amit Shah noted that the sacrifices made by soldiers reflect the “highest values of patriotism, commitment, and valor” cherished by every citizen.
The nation commemorated the Armed Forces Flag Day (AFFD) on December 7, a solemn occasion to honour the bravery, dedication, sacrifices and unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces, an official statement said on Sunday.

In a post on X, the Union Home Minister wrote, “Through relentless sacrifices for the nation, our armed forces embody the highest values of patriotism, commitment, and valor that every citizen holds so close to their heart.”
“On this day I appeal to everyone to contribute to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund and support the veterans and the families of our martyrs as a mark of our gratitude to them,” he added.
Shah also expressed gratitude after being presented with a miniature national flag by the Sainik Welfare and Resettlement Department of Gujarat and the Rajya Sainik Board on the occasion.
“Heartened by the warm gesture of the Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Gujarat State, and the Rajya Sainik Board, Gujarat, in presenting me with a miniature flag on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day,” he further wrote.
Further, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also honoured the courage and dedication of the armed forces, acknowledging their role in protecting the nation from both external and internal threats. He expressed appreciation for citizens and organisations that have supported welfare initiatives for veterans, disabled personnel, and the families of fallen soldiers through contributions to the AFFD Fund.
Singh urged people to continue donating and to uphold their commitment to the welfare and resettlement of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and dependents of martyrs. “On Armed Forces Flag Day, I salute the valour and sacrifices of our armed forces. Their courage safeguards our nation, and their selfless service reminds us of a debt we can never repay. I urge everyone to contribute generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. Your support honours their dedication and strengthens those who protect us,” the Defence Minister stated.
