Israel on Sunday objected to the composition of the newly formed Board of Peace – designed to oversee Gaza peace plan efforts under the supervision of US President Donald Trump – asserting that it runs “contrary to its policy” and that it was not coordinated with Jerusalem.
“The announcement regarding the composition of the Gaza Executive Board, which is subordinate to the Board of Peace, was not coordinated with Israel and runs contrary to its policy,” a post on the X account of the office of PM Benjamin Netanyahu stated.

Further, it said that the Israeli Prime Minister has directed the Foreign Affairs Minister to connect with the United States on the matter.
On Friday, White House announced the names on the board’s portfolio, which will be crucial to restoring peace in Gaza. The board includes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, President Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, along with the President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and adviser Robert Gabriel.
For on-ground representation, the board features Nickolay Mladenov, a former UN Middle East envoy, who will serve as the High Representative for Gaza.
In addition, World Bank president Ajay Banga was also named as an appointment to the Board of Peace.
In letters sent by Trump to various world leaders inviting them to be “founding members” of the Board of Peace, he said it would “embark on a bold new approach to resolving global conflict,” as reported by Associated Press.
The announcement followed the launch of the second phase of the US-brokered peace plan in Gaza.
Notably, Israel and Hamas have accused each other of ceasefire violations in Gaza. Over 450 Palestinians and three Israeli soldiers have been reported killed during the truce.
