Several parts of Maharashtra are likely to witness a spell of rain between Monday and Wednesday. The Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office has warned of possible stormy rainfall across the region during the three days, citing forecasts of changing weather conditions in multiple regions.
In a post on X, the CMO said several areas, including the ghat regions of western Maharashtra, Khandesh, Marathwada and parts of Vidarbha, could witness cloud formation in the afternoons, leading to rain accompanied by thunder. Rainfall Activity To Intensify In Maharashtra
“Indications are emerging of changes in the weather in various parts of the state over the next few days, with forecasts suggesting the possibility of stormy rains between April 20 and 22. In the ghat areas of western Maharashtra, Khandesh, Marathwada, and parts of Vidarbha, clouds may gather in the afternoon, potentially leading to rain accompanied by thunder. During this period, there is also a possibility of intense lightning, gusty winds, and hailstorms in some places,” the tweet read.
According to the weather department, early signs of stormy weather may begin on Sunday, particularly in the ghat areas of western Maharashtra, north Khandesh and southern Marathwada. The impact is expected to widen over the next two days, with rainfall activity likely across the Pune division, southern parts of Marathwada, the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar division and the Amravati region of Vidarbha.
Rain Activity To Ease From Wednesday
However, forecasts indicate that the intensity and spread of rainfall could ease by April 22, the CMO suggested.
Amid the alert, the state’s Agriculture Department has urged farmers to take precautionary measures. Authorities have advised safeguarding harvested crops, planning farm activities in line with weather conditions and protecting standing crops from potential damage caused by strong winds and hail.
