Actor Rakesh Bedi has been gaining a lot of attention ever since Dhurandhar: The Revenge’s release, and he has received immense recognition for the film. This spy thriller sees Rakesh playing the role of a politician, Jameel Jamali, and everything about his role has been impressive, including his comedy and the now-viral line, “Bachcha hai tu mera.”
Rakesh Bedi recently spoke about the praise coming his way and also revealed that he got a call from Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, something that definitely stayed with him.
What Rakesh Bedi said
Rakesh told Lallantop, “Boley, ‘Rakesh ji, maza aa gaya! Kya chhakka maara aapne!’ Maine bola, ‘Haan, tumne bahut chakke maare hain, but tumhare chhakke India mein gire hain. Mera chhakka Pakistan mein gira
hai’ (He said he enjoyed the film and praised my performance. I replied that while he has hit many sixes in India, mine landed in Pakistan).”
Spoilers for Dhurandhar 2 ahead!
Rakesh’s character has terrific comic timing, but it is the climax of Dhurandhar 2 that ultimately makes him stand out. While he plays a politician who has been a major player in Pakistan’s Lyari for three decades, he hides a huge secret that is revealed at the end. He eventually reveals to Hamza (Ranveer Singh), who is also his son-in-law, that he is an Indian spy just like him.
The first film, meanwhile, showed Rakesh Bedi in an interesting light. His scheming in the movie did not always go well, even though it added depth to the film. The movie showed Ranveer’s Hamza infiltrating gangs in Lyari in an attempt to dismantle a terror network targeting India and operating through Pakistan’s underworld. The film also gave insight into intelligence operations while depicting past terror events, including the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the 2001 Parliament attack.
The sequel, meanwhile, introduced Hamza’s backstory, including his life as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, how he took over Lyari, and what he went through. Dhurandhar 2 also saw Arjun Rampal’s Major Iqbal face off against Ranveer Singh’s Hamza in an intense showdown. The movie also features R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, and others. The film has crossed Rs 1,500 crore at the worldwide box office and has received immense praise from people across the industry.
