A social media post has gone viral after a founder shared his surprise over the high rental prices in Bengaluru’s luxury housing market. The discussion started when screenshots of premium apartment listings were shared online, showing rents going up to Rs 3.1 lakh per month.
The post quickly triggered a debate, with many people reacting differently to the same numbers. While some were shocked by the cost, others said such prices are normal for high-end properties in big cities.
Founder Shares Shock Over Bengaluru Rent Quotes
The conversation began when an X user, who is also a founder, shared that a friend of his was struggling to find housing in Bengaluru. He said the friend had been complaining about the high rent in the city and later shared screenshots
of listings.
“A founder friend was house hunting in Bangalore recently around March, and has been complaining about rentals ever since. I didn’t believe him. So he shared screenshots. 2.75 lac per month, 3.1 lac per month and more,” he wrote.
The screenshots included a semi-furnished 4 BHK apartment in Hebbal with a super built-up area of 4,440 sq. ft. The listing showed a rent of Rs 3.10 lakh per month, along with maintenance charges.
Another property shown was a fully furnished apartment of around 2,200 sq. ft., priced at Rs 2 lakh per month plus maintenance. Other listings also showed rents ranging between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 3 lakh for luxury homes.

Internet Users Say Prices Are Normal For Luxury Homes
As the post spread, users shared mixed reactions. Some said the prices were expected for large luxury homes in premium areas.
“For 4k sqft that’s pretty reasonable, no?” a user commented.
Another wrote, “This is pretty nominal for BLR. If you really don’t want to believe him, ask him about the deposit.”
A different user compared it with Mumbai rentals, saying higher prices are common in big cities. “Rookie numbers. 2-3BHKs in Mumbai with a single bathroom that happens to be in the kitchen… go for much more,” the comment read.
Another person added, “the rentals seem justified to me based on the specs of the property.”
However, not everyone agreed. A user questioned the pricing, saying, “Rs 10 crore ka flat hai kya, jo itna jyada rent hai.” Another said, “We need heavy tax on empty apartments.”
