Amaravati, May 6 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that Carrier, a leading air-conditioner manufacturer, has begun work on its advanced chiller manufacturing facility in Sri City.
Earlier in the day, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation stone for Carrier Global’s air-conditioner manufacturing facility in Tirupati district.
The project aims to strengthen the state’s manufacturing ecosystem and generate large-scale employment opportunities in the region.
While the chief minister pegged Carrier Global’s investment at Rs 863 crore, Lokesh described it as a Rs 1,000 crore investment initiative.
“Delighted that Andhra Pradesh has secured another major investment, with Carrier breaking ground
today in Sri City for its advanced chiller manufacturing facility,” Naidu said in a post on X.
The facility will manufacture high-capacity commercial Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) chillers above 1,500 tonnes of refrigeration (TR) in India and will include 15 advanced testing, research and development laboratories.
According to the CM, the project further strengthens Andhra Pradesh’s position in high-end industrial cooling systems and marks another important step in building a manufacturing ecosystem to support the growing artificial intelligence (AI) economy.
He noted that the project reflects a shift towards capability-led growth, with the state emerging as a hub for advanced engineering and high-value manufacturing. PTI MS SSK
