It has been a few weeks since the widely popular series Stranger Things officially came to an end. Although the makers tried to conclude the characters’ individual chapters, fans are still left with plenty
of questions.
One of the show’s characters, Vickie (played by Amybeth McNulty), was not featured or directly mentioned in the epilogue, prompting viewers to wonder about the character’s whereabouts and her relationship with Robin (played by Maya Hawke).
Stranger Things’ Creators Open Up About Vickie and Robin’s Fate
Previously, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show’s creators, Ross and Matt Duffer, admitted that they “did talk” about Vickie and Robin’s future but decided to leave it up to the audience to draw the conclusion.
“We do that flash-forward in Mike’s story, and we bring them up to a certain point, and then we want to leave it a little bit up to fans in terms of where these characters end up ultimately,” Ross told the outlet. “Do Robin and Vickie stay together? Maybe, maybe not,” he added.
Matt Duffer shared, “From my point of view and from everyone I knew in high school, what percentage of couples remain together after they leave for college? Extremely low. Max and Lucas survive because their love is that deep, but very few others do. But, you never know.”
Vickie And Robin’s Story On Stranger Things
Throughout Season 4 of Stranger Things, Robin developed a huge crush on Vickie, a fellow member of the Hawkins High School band. During the beginning of Season 5, it was revealed that the pair had officially gotten together, with Vickie coming to learn all about the Upside Down and helping to protect Max (played by Sadie Sink) during the final fight against Vecna (played by Jamie Campbell Bower) and the Mind Flayer.
However, fans began to suspect that Vickie and Robin might have parted ways when they did not attend the class of ’89 graduation ceremony together at the end of the episode. The theory appears to be reinforced when Robin made a comment about “overbearing significant others” while hanging out with Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton).
Despite several theories, there is still no confirmation whether the comment was about Vickie and Robin’s relationship. Some fans also believe that the comment could have been a nod to Steve’s chaotic dating life as well.
