Veteran actor Mithu Mukherjee has passed away at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer. The actress, who predominantly worked in Bengali cinema, was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai, where she took her last breath on Sunday night. Her demise has come as a huge shock for the entire film industry, and her death has been mourned by the All Indian Cine Workers Association. Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee also paid a heartfelt tribute to the departed soul.
Taking to X,Prosenjit Chatterjee wrote in Bengali, “The news of Mithu Mukherjee’s passing is extremely heartbreaking. His memory and his work will live on forever among us. With deepest respects.”
All Indian Cine Workers Association penned a long note mourning her demise. In the long note,
the association wrote, “AICWA Pays Tribute to Legendary Actress Mithu Mukherjee. Mithu Mukherjee was a celebrated Bengali and Hindi film actress who made her cinematic debut with Shesh Parba and went on to become a familiar and respected face of Indian cinema during the 1970s and 1980s.”
