Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday urged the region’s youth to actively oppose radicalisation and those promoting it, calling for united community action to safeguard peace in the Valley.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 69th National School Games-2025 in Jammu, Sinha said young people must “nurture the spirit of oneness” and help build a society free from discrimination and divisive ideologies.
The event was organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports and the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), featuring competitions across four disciplines, football, wushu, taekwondo and table tennis, with participants from 34 states and Union Territories.
Sinha said India’s young athletes are “the architects of
the nation’s destiny” and have a responsibility to strengthen national unity and shape a brighter future for the country.
The remarks came two days after the LG chaired a high-level meeting on counter-radicalisation and anti-militancy strategies in the Union Territory.
Reviewing the overall security situation, Sinha reiterated that the administration’s “360-degree approach”, targeting terror financing networks, narcotics-linked routes, overground workers and sympathisers, remains aimed at dismantling the entire support ecosystem for militant groups.
He directed officials to stay alert to emerging threats, maintain zero tolerance toward militancy, and take the “strongest possible action” against those attempting to radicalise young people.
Sinha also asked agencies to intensify intelligence-led operations and closely track digital platforms used for recruitment and funding by militant outfits.
Further investigations and security reviews are underway as the UT seeks to eliminate the remaining elements of the terror network.
