Rajkummar Rao has found himself at the centre of online trolling after the release of his recent film’s poster. The makers of Dada – The Sourav Ganguly Story unveiled the film’s first poster on former India captain Sourav Ganguly’s birthday, offering fans their first glimpse of Rajkummar Rao in the role of one of Indian cricket’s most influential captains. However, the poster largely failed to impress fans.
In the first-look poster, Rajkummar recreated one of the most unforgettable moments in Indian cricket history. Bare-chested, waving his blue Team India jersey from the famous Lord’s balcony while the Indian tricolour flies in the background: Rajkummar recreated Sourav Ganguly’s celebration after India’s dramatic win in the NatWest Series final
in England.

However, the poster is being massively trolled online. On Reddit, one person wrote, “It really looks like a bad Photoshop.” Another comment read, “This looks funny.” Someone else wrote, “For a second I thought it was fan-made. Why don’t makers have any objectivity that this poster and expressions will be scrutinised from the get-go. Badly composed image too for the poster. And the face almost looks like a Photoshop.”
Another comment read, “No way this is real.” Someone else asked, “Is this AI?” Another comment read, “That poster is an embarrassment to dada, lol.” Another person wrote, “Can’t even use AI properly.” A comment read, “Is this real? An average guy can make something better than this with AI.” Another read, “Is it a fake poster??? It looks so bad.” Someone added, “AI-generated teasers, first looks are soon gonna kill the curiosity for movies.”
Similar comments also surfaced on other social media sites like Instagram and X. The makers are yet to react to this row. Meanwhile, the cricketer himself called it the best birthday gift ever and said that he cannot wait to see Rajkummar Rao perform his cover drive on screen. Along with the poster, the makers also announced that the biopic will release in theatres on May 14, 2027.
