In a bid to accelerate the special intensive revision of electoral rolls, the Pilibhit administration has introduced incentives for booth-level officers (BLOs). These incentives include a family safari and lunch for those who complete the highest number of digitised forms within their respective assembly constituencies.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is currently underway across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Pilibhit’s Deputy District Election Officer Prasun Dwivedi announced that the BLO who excels in digitisation efforts during the SIR will be rewarded once the exercise concludes. The top-performing BLO will receive a certificate of appreciation, a family visit to the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve for a jungle safari, a family lunch at Chuka
Beach, and movie tickets.
Dwivedi, who also serves as the additional district magistrate (finance and revenue), confirmed this initiative to PTI on Friday. He explained that the goal is to motivate BLOs to complete the revision work swiftly and efficiently, ensuring the timely preparation of the voter list.
There are four assembly constituencies in the district — Pilibhit, Barkhera, Puranpur and Bisalpur.
Dwivedi said a total of 1,522 BLOs and 172 supervisors have been deployed for the ongoing exercise.
Additionally, 52 district-level officers, along with block development officers and executive officers of Nagar Palikas and their full staff, are overseeing the form collection and digitisation.
The district has over 14 lakh electors, with more than 2.25 lakh forms digitised so far. The digitisation of voter IDs is set to continue until December 4.
The Election Commission of India stated that the SIR aims to update voter lists after more than two decades, addressing issues such as migration, duplicate registrations, and the non-removal of deceased electors. Each polling station serves around 1,000 electors, with one BLO assigned to manage the process.
BLOs are responsible for distributing Enumeration Forms to all voters, helping them match their details with records from the last revision held in 2002-04, and accessing the national voter database for verification.
