The United States of America hammered the Netherlands by 93 runs on Friday (February 13) to secure their first win in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. In their third Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, USA posted a total of 196 runs for the loss of six wickets after being invited to bat first by Dutch skipper Scott Edwards. And then in the second half bowled the Netherlands out for just 103 runs in 15.5 overs.
The match against the Netherlands in Chennai was a must-win for the USA team, and Monank Patel’s men produced a super show to keep themselves alive in the race to qualify for the Super 8s.
The win by 93 runs over the European team in Chennai on Friday also helped the United
States team break the record of biggest win by run margin for an associate team in the T20 World Cup.
The previous record of the biggest win by run margin for an associate team was by 80 runs, which Nepal registered against Hong Kong in Chattogram on March 16, 2024.
