Kolkata, Sep 19 (PTI) Over 7.18 lakh students will appear in the semester three level higher secondary board examinations to be held in West Bengal from September 21 to October 14, an official statement said on Saturday.
The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) said 7,18,620 candidates have registered for the examination, comprising 3,15,731 male and 4,02,889 female candidates.
The examination will be held at 825 centres, covering 2,105 venues, including 99 identified as sensitive.
Regular examinations will generally be held from 11 am to 12.30 pm, while examinations in Music and Visual Arts will be conducted from 11 am to noon and vocational subjects from 2 pm to 3 pm.
The revised routine for the first examination on September
21, covers Bengali, English, Hindi, Nepali, Urdu, Santhali, Odia, and other languages, while there will be examinations in subjects like Economics, Anthropology, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Nutrition, Education, Accountancy, Computer Science, Statistics, Psychology, Political Science, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics, and Business Studies.
On October 13, vocational subjects will be held in two shifts — 11 am to 12.30 pm and 2 pm to 3 pm. The final examination, covering biological science, political science and costing and taxation, will be held on October 14 from 11 am to 12.30 pm.
WBCHSE president Mosiur Rahaman Sardar said two invigilators will be deployed for every examination room in 20:1 ratio, while CCTV surveillance will be maintained at the main gates of examination centres and the venue supervisors’ rooms.
Use of mobile phones, calculators and other electronic gadgets has been prohibited inside examination venues. If any candidate is found carrying a mobile phone or electronic gadget during the examination, the council said the candidate’s examination, along with the enrolment, would be cancelled, he said.
Frisking through metal detectors will also be carried out at the main gates of examination centres, he said.
The council said question papers would continue to be available in four languages — Bengali, English, Hindi and an alternative language. As in the previous year, the answer scripts will be evaluated through OMR sheets.
The council head said admit cards had been made available to candidates through its online portal, while examination-related documents had been distributed through 56 camps across the state since September 11.
“Adequate security arrangements will be made, and I urge students not to pay heed to rumours or misinformation that could create confusion before or during the examination,” he added. PTI SUS RG
