A man who spent three decades living in Delhi has shared why moving to Hyderabad changed the way he experiences daily life. In a video posted online, he spoke about feeling calmer, safer, and less anxious after relocating to the city with his wife for work.
He explained that the shift was not about comparing food, weather, or lifestyle. Instead, he said the biggest difference was the sense of peace and comfort he now feels while going about everyday activities.
He Explains Why He Left Delhi
In the video, the man said that living in Delhi often meant staying alert all the time. Simple things like walking on the road with a phone in hand or wearing jewellery outside made people cautious. According to him, constantly looking over one’s shoulder became part of daily routine.
He
also spoke about concerns many families face when women travel alone at night. He said it was common for relatives to stay on calls, track live locations, or worry until loved ones safely reached home. That feeling of tension, he added, slowly became normal during his years in the capital.
Things changed after he moved to Hyderabad around two years ago. He shared that he and his wife now comfortably walk outside late at night without fear. He added that when his wife goes out alone for work or errands, he no longer feels the same anxiety he once experienced in Delhi.
The man also praised the Telangana Police. Recalling one interaction, he said he was stopped only once for a routine check and found the officers “respectful and helpful.”
Beyond safety, he said Hyderabad also helped him grow personally. According to him, the city gave him supportive friendships, career growth, and even helped him become more spiritual.

Social Media Users Relate To His Experience
Many people online agreed with his thoughts and shared similar experiences about living in Hyderabad. A user wrote, “I am in Hyderabad for the last 17 years and there’s no other place I’d rather be. Hyd hai hi aisi jagah. Aap kahin aur reh hi nahi sakte. Hyd aapko apna leti hai.”
“Nobody beat people for language it’s their reluctancy to respect and surrender to city’s culture and its people,” someone commented. An individual said, “Raised in hyd. Beautiful city, cultured people. Friendly people. Really feels safe.”
Another commented, “I am from the north (Delhi) but married in Hyderabad. I can say people are very laid back and very down to earth in the South. No show-offs in South India. I don’t know Telugu and was never forced to speak Telugu by anyone. I found a peaceful life as compared to Delhi’s chaotic life. People in Delhi are very rude, always angry and irritated. Love Hyderabad and don’t want people to change my city.”
A user also pointed out that while Hyderabad feels safer overall, theft incidents still happen. “I totally agree with this. I have also been living in Hyderabad since last 4 years and is very safe, and i really love living here. But just on that phone thing, my phone has been stolen twice here. Once from my husband’s pocket even at a very posh area. Accept this i have had a great experience living here.”
