Indian cuisine has long found fans far beyond the country, all thanks to the bold spices, regional variety and mix of flavours that have won over food lovers around the world. When one US-based YouTuber discovered Indian food a few years back, he said that the cuisine has now made food available in the rest of the world far less exciting.
Ed Nathanson, who describes himself as the “World’s Greatest Snack Detective”, shared a video on Instagram, sarcastically saying how he has a “problem” with Indian food. “I have a problem with Indian food. It has literally ruined all other cuisines for me,” he said at the beginning.
“There’s Literally No Turning Back Now” He then shared that he was introduced to Indian food around five years ago, which has now
changed his relationship with food. “It’s like the heavens opened and God himself put his hand on my shoulder and said, ‘Come inside, it’s delicious here,’” he added. “There’s literally no turning back now.”
Nathanson further listed some of the Indian dishes that won him over, with his list beginning with the evergreen pani puri. He described those as “little flavour bombs” that explode in the mouth and compared chicken vindaloo to a “lightning strike of deliciousness.” He also praised Gobi Manchurian.
“Now you expect me to get excited because you put a little rosemary on your chicken breast? Indian food’s out here with like 47 different spices fighting for custody of my taste buds. America’s over here like, it comes with garlic aioli. Oh, does it, Linda? I’ve tasted the other side now,” he joked.
“Palate Is Literally Changed Forever”
His love for Indian food has also changed his own eating habits. Nathanson, who said he was a “hardcore carnivore”, has started willingly ordering vegetarian dishes after discovering Indian cuisine. “Palate is literally changed forever,” he said. “To all other cuisines, do better. To Indian food, keep doing your delicious you.”
Internet Asks Him To Try Indian Food In India
The video has since gone viral with viewers encouraging him to take his food journey a step further and visit India to get authentic taste of Indian foods, while others just agreed to his opinion.
“If the US paani puri version did this to you, then wait till you try it actually when you are in India. This man is going to be the permanent resident of India,” said a user.
Another added, “So true! You never get bored because you have so many options in Indian cuisine. Not just two pages menu.”
“Once you go brown, the other colours let you down,” an individual humorously said.
Meanwhile, someone thanked him, saying, “So sweet … thanks a million for favouring Indian food!!!!”
