Amaal Mallik Reveals Turning Down Bigg Boss For 5 Years: ‘Didn’t Want To Be Around Babas Who…’

Music composer-singer Amaal Mallik had quite an eventful journey on the Salman Khan-hosted reality show Bigg Boss 19. Fans loved to see his real, unfiltered side, and he was undoubtedly among one of the most popular contestants on the reality show. However, did you know Amaal had also been approached for previous seasons of Bigg Boss? Amaal recently revealed that he had been offered Bigg Boss in the past but turned it down for five years. He explained that he didn’t want to be around ‘babas who threw urine.’ He was seemingly referring to an incident on Bigg Boss 10, where self-proclaimed godman Swami Om threw urine on fellow contestants during a captaincy task. Amaal Mallik On Choosing To Do Bigg Boss 19

In an interview with Screen, Amaal said that he was offered the show for five years before this, however it never worked out. He then thought he wasn’t cut out to be a BB contestant and that it wasn’t his zone. Amaal further explained why he chose to do Bigg Boss 19 after having previously rejected the show for five years.

“Since I was the last person getting into it, the probable list of contestants was not bad. There were different kinds of contestants. Earlier, when they had approached me, I said no because I didn’t want to be around babas (priests) who threw urine. I said I couldn’t tolerate all this, so that I would reject the offer. This time, all the contestants were cool, bringing something to the table. I had the window since I was only doing two films, and most of the songs were ready; they had to go for the shoot, and it worked out well. People could relate to the guy I am. Many thought that I spoke too much on Twitter and Instagram. They wondered if I had so many guts in real life, so I was like, let them see me,” he explained.

Amaal Mallik was among the top 5 of Bigg Boss 19, and emerged as the fourth runner-up on the show.
