New Delhi, June 13 (PTI) Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha on Saturday felicitated police personnel for their outstanding achievements in the line of duty.
Constables Angad Singh Meena and Manish Kumar, both posted at Mehrauli Police Station in South District, were granted out-of-turn promotions and elevated to the rank of Head Constable for their role in rescue operations during a building collapse incident on May 30.
According to police, these two displayed exceptional courage by entering deep into the debris at considerable personal risk and rescuing trapped people. They also assisted in evacuation and rescue efforts, helping save several lives despite the danger posed to their own safety.
The commissioner of police also conferred the
Asadharan Karya Puraskar, along with a cash reward of Rs 50,000 each, on eight South District police personnel for their exemplary service during a major fire at Flourish Stay in Hauz Rani, Malviya Nagar, on June 3.
Police said several occupants were trapped inside the building due to the intensity of the blaze.
Personnel from the South District responded swiftly and worked in coordination with the Delhi Fire Service and other emergency agencies to rescue many people, including foreign nationals.
The awardees were Sub-Inspector Ram Kishan, Head Constables Kartar, Hargyan, Dinesh Kumar and Sampat, and Constables Surender, Ravi Kant and Sanjay.
Addressing the gathering, the police commissioner commended the personnel for their dedication, professionalism and courage, and said that such acts of bravery and commitment serve as an inspiration for the force.
Glochha also felicitated officers and personnel for outstanding investigative work and recognised recipients of the Best Division Officer, Best Beat Officer, Best Traffic Cop and Best PCR Team awards for their exemplary professional performance.
The awards were presented as part of Delhi Police’s efforts to acknowledge exceptional service and motivate personnel to maintain high standards of public service and operational excellence, officials said. PTI SSJ KSI KSI
