From solving mysteries as Enola Holmes to taking on monsters as Eleven, Millie Bobby Brown has already built an impressive list of iconic roles at just 22. But if the actor has her way, there’s another legendary character she’d love to add to that list.
Fresh off the release of Enola Holmes 3, Millie shared that she would love to step into the shoes of James Bond. Her comments come at a time when her co-star Louis Partridge is among the actors rumoured to be in the race to play the famous British spy.
Speaking about the speculation, Millie jokingly threw her own name into the mix. “I think I should be the next James Bond, why am I not in that running? Can we get me in that running?” she said.
While she had fun with the idea, Millie also made it clear
that she’s rooting for Louis. She said, “I don’t like all the competition and the speculation. All that matters is that he’s my James Bond and whatever it will be, what’s great is that they’ll find the person for it, whoever that may be. But Tewkesbury is Louis, hands down. There’s no other person that could ever play him.”
The actor also opened up about returning as Enola Holmes for the third film and why the character continues to excite her.
“She’s just a really fun character to play. I have a lot of fun with the script, with the lines and I love working with Louis. Enola and Tewksebery’s relationship is blossoming and growing in this film, and I was just ready to jump into it full force. It’s very exciting that Netflix wants to continue with the franchise,” she said.
After playing Enola for three films, Millie believes stepping back into the role has only become more comfortable over time. She admitted there’s always pressure to keep fans invested but doesn’t think that makes the job more difficult.
“It gets easier. Of course there is always the pressure of hope that the audience is enjoying the evolution of this character that I’m building, but I don’t necessarily think it gets harder,” she said.
Millie also reflected on playing female characters who take charge of their own stories, even in worlds where women are often underestimated.
“That’s what I believe in, bringing more women to screen, women that are capable and heroes in their own story. It’s very impactful and meaningful, and I am very excited to continue on bringing characters like that to screen that show range and slowly, leaving the action world, entering into the romance world and then more to come.”
