Virat Kohli was spotted at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, on Monday (December 22) ahead of his highly-anticipated return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). Fans noted his slightly different hairdo and overall look compared to when he was last seen in action for India.
Kohli was reportedly traveling to Bengaluru, where Delhi will play all their VHT matches for the season. He is set for a rare return to India’s domestic 50-over circuit after being named in his home state’s squad for the 2025-26 edition. The tournament will run from December 24 to January 18.
Having last featured in a competitive fixture on December 6, when he struck an unbeaten half-century for India against South Africa in an ODI in Visakhapatnam,
Kohli was recently seen training in Alibaug for the VHT. He’s expected to play two games in the group stage, which would mark his first appearance in the competition since 2010.

Delhi’s VHT team will be led by wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant in the upcoming campaign. Pant, too, was spotted at the Mumbai airport on Monday.

Delhi’s squad blends experience with youth, featuring senior players such as Ishant Sharma alongside emerging names like Harshit Rana, Yash Dhull, and Priyansh Arya.
The team will begin their Group D journey against Andhra Pradesh on December 24, followed by fixtures against Gujarat, Saurashtra, Odisha, Services, Railways and Haryana. For Kohli, the tournament offers both competitive rhythm and a homecoming in familiar colours.
The domestic assignment is also seen as valuable match practice for Kohli ahead of India’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand, beginning in Vadodara on January 11. The batting great has retired from Tests and T20Is, leaving only the IPL and domestic matches for him to make a case for the 2027 World Cup.
