A “stay tuned” remark by US envoy Sergio Gor following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s phone call with US President Donald Trump triggered speculation over possible developments in India-US ties. Responding to PM Modi’s post on X (formerly Twitter), Sergio Gor wrote, “A very positive and productive call! Stay tuned…”, hinting that further announcements may be in the pipeline.

In his post, PM Modi said, “Received a call from my friend President Donald Trump. We reviewed the substantial progress achieved in our bilateral cooperation in various sectors. We are committed to further strengthening our Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership in all areas. We also
discussed the situation in West Asia and stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.”
The conversation comes amid sustained engagement between New Delhi and Washington on trade, defence and strategic cooperation, as well as the evolving situation in West Asia.

Sergio Gor’s remark has drawn attention because of a similar message earlier this year. On February 2, he had posted “stay tuned” just hours before India and the United States announced progress on a bilateral trade agreement. The India–US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), announced on February 2, 2026, is now in its final stages. While a framework was agreed earlier, the final signing was delayed following a February 20 ruling by the US Supreme Court that struck down certain reciprocal tariffs.
